BIO

Heike Walker first encountered the Alexander Technique in dance classes in the early nineties. She was intrigued by how body awareness affects her dancing. Working with the Alexander Technique created more fluidity and openness in her body and new possibilities of moving – with more lightness, ease and clarity! In 1994, Heike began taking lessons in the Alexander Technique which opened a whole new dimension of the Alexander Technique to her.

Heike entered a three-year full-time training course in the Alexander Technique in Berlin with Dan Armon and graduated in 2002. She has been teaching the Alexander Technique since – both in individual lessons and in workshops to dancers, musicians or anyone interested in working on themselves and gaining self-awareness. Over the years, Heike has helped many Alexander students with neck or back pain, low energy or chronic stress – to find more ease and balance both in their bodies and in their lives!

Heike is a Certified Teacher of the Alexander Technique. She is the owner of Balance Arts Studio.

I have been waiting a long time to experience Alexander technique first hand, after missing out on a tango workshop on it more than 120 years ago.
Now an A. tech practitioner happens to walk into my life and to share her tango journey with me.
After organizing one workshop at the CDTA BC Masterclasses in November 2019 I couldn't wait to arrange another A.tech workshop.
The last workshop was amazing on so many levels. I was guided through mindfully experiencing the space around me and my body's positions and motions. My posture felt very comfortable and strong. A slight adjustment in hip position alleviated persistent pressure in my lower back while engaging my core.
With the extensive dance experience, Heike has a workshop that is specifically designed for dancers of all disciplines and styles. I am confident that it will benefit all participants.

See you there!!
